This Sunday, Rabbi Leib presents Dr. Zach Kassuto speaking about The Birth of Modern Hebrew. Zach is the great-grandson of Eliezer Ben-Yehudah, who is almost single-handedly responsible for the rebirth of Hebrew as a modern language; indeed, the language of millions in the modern state of Israel.

B. Mitzvah - Nathan Unikel
Saturday, March 25 Vayikra Son of Lynne Unikel & Ricardo Unikel
For my Mitzvah Project, I volunteered at Furever Yours Rescue. This is a very small, local nonprofit organization, run out of the owner's home. I took care of cats in the cat room at PetSmart and I was responsible for feeding, cleaning their enclosures, and most importantly, playing with them. Furever Yours is always in need of supplies and money for all the animals they rescue. There is a box for donations at both entrances of the synagogue.
Please consider donating one or more of the following: blankets, towels, bleach, leashes, dog food, puppy pads, dog or cat toys.

Poem #1 The book of Leviticus begins, With laws of sacrifice and sin, The priests are given their command, To offer up their offerings grand.
The burnt, the meal, the peace, the sin, Each has its place, its time to begin, The blood is sprinkled on the wall, The fat is burned, the smoke does call.
The people come to make their plea, To ask for help, to be set free, The priest will listen, hear their cry, And offer up a sacrifice.
So let us learn from this great book, And take a closer, deeper look, At how we live, how we can give, And how we can in peace, all live.
Poem #2 A small aleph in Vayikra, A mystery to all, Why is it there, what does it mean, What is its hidden call?
Some say it's there to teach us, That we should not be proud, That even if we're small and weak, We can still stand out in the crowd.
Others say it's there to show us, That every letter counts, That even if it's small and weak, It still has great amounts.
So let us learn from this small aleph, And take its lesson to heart, That even if we're small and weak, We can still make a great start.

Every year on Passover, we proclaim, "Let all who are hungry come and eat." As we reflect on the past three years, in which millions have suffered and the cracks within our social safety net have been exposed, it is more important than ever to come together and retell our shared story. As we look ahead to a healthier, safer world, we know that too many Americans — nearly 40 million today — still face food insecurity. We have a long road ahead, but your support of MAZON and engagement with our holiday materialsensures that we can end hunger together. Each year, MAZON provides resources to help you and your community highlight the issue of hunger at the Seder table. Whether you plan to join with loved ones virtually or in-person this year, we hope you will engage with our Hunger Seder Haggadah. More specifically, we challenge you to ask yourselves the following Fifth Question:"What lessons from our history should guide our nation’s approach to ending hunger?"
