Beth Am Book Club Tuesday, June 15, 11:00 AM on Zoom "MARTYRS’ CROSSING" by Amy Wilentz facilitated by Debbie Neibauer
From the author of the prize-winning The Rainy Season—a “sophisticated and suspenseful” (The New York Times Book Review) novel of love, fear, divided loyalties, ruined friendships, and personal sacrifice—against a backdrop of war in the Holy Land. Martyrs’ Crossing “is a very human tale of regrets, revenge, and the elusive nature of absolution” (Entertainment Weekly). “So precise, so startling, so unforgettable” (Los Angeles Times), it offers an unparalleled story of the ambiguities of war—of inarticulate longing and broken vows—set in the turbulence of Israel and the West Bank.

Old York Road Kehillah Book Discussion: ‘Palestine Posts’ Sunday, June 13, 2021 | 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.
Join us for a book discussion of “Palestine Posts: An Eyewitness Account of the Birth of Israel,” featuring author Daniel Chertoff. Daniel’s father, Mordecai, came to Palestine in 1947 as a twenty-five-year-old, determined to make his contribution to the emerging Jewish State. Between 1947 and 1950, he was a local news editor, foreign news editor, and war correspondent for The Palestine Post, a soldier in the Haganah, and a resident of Jerusalem. The book reflects the personal journey undertaken by the author to better understand a crucial period in Jewish history as well as his father as a young man and describes powerful encounters.
The book is available via Amazon in either softcover or Kindle or through the publisher, Koren. Use the code “posts” for a 15% discount.
