Community
Since the tragic shooting incident at the Tree of Life synagogue in Pittsburgh in 2018, the security of our synagogue has become a daily concern for the leaders of our congregation, and a very significant portion of our capital and operating budget. The ADL has reported that the number of antisemitic incidents in the U.S. increased by more than 35 percent in the past year, from 2,721 in 2021 to 3,697 in 2022. Every morning, your synagogue administrators receive a report of antisemitic incidents and warnings locally and from around the world.
The entire summer issue of the journal SAPIR is dedicated to a broad collection of ideas on combating the world’s oldest hatred. In a time of globally rising antisemitism, SAPIR brings together perspectives from across and beyond the Jewish world in Israel, America, and Britain about how we should respond. You can read this issue here.
