Mazal Tov to Ariel Breitman and Erika Silverman on their engagement!
Ariel’s parents Barbara & Joe Breitman and his sisters Ilana & Leela, along with Erika's parents Jodi Sontag & Steven Silverman and her brother Alec share in the happiness. A December 2023 wedding is planned!
We congratulate Art Davis, consummate volunteer, for the well-deserved recognition he received in last week’s Jewish Exponent. Art has been a devoted volunteer at the Jewish Relief Agency for no less than 15 years ever since their warehouse opened in 2007.
In addition, Art helps coordinate Beth Am’s blood drives through the American Red Cross and, together with his wife Neile, he is especially devoted to Sara’s Smiles Foundation in loving memory of their late granddaughter Sara Burke.
The Foundation’s motto is: “Lift the Cloud! Inspire the Joy!”
That’s precisely the energy and enthusiasm that Art brings to this and all his other charitable endeavors! Art Davis truly is Beth Am’s Mitzvah Maven!
Read about JRAs wonderful volunteers published in the Jewish Exponent.

10:00 AM Morning Service in the Molish Sanctuary and on Livestream BAT MITZVAH: JULIA ZIMMERMAN Daughter of Lee and Andrea Zimmerman
BAT MITZVAH - JULIA ZIMMERMAN Five years ago, when my brother went to JRA to do his Mitzvah Project I tagged along. Over the years from time to time, I would go work in the warehouse with my brother and my mom packing boxes. I always enjoyed placing the food items into the boxes as people traveled down the line. I had not volunteered during the pandemic and when my classmates and I went to help in the fall of 2021, I knew that returning to the JRA was my perfect Mitzvah project. I enjoy working in the warehouse and now I helped break down boxes and keep the supplies ready for those working the lines. I also like delivering the boxes to the apartment complexes and seeing the smiles on the people’s faces. Carrying the boxes is hard work, but I know the older residents don’t have much and that what I deliver helps them get by each month. I plan to continue helping and hope to see fellow congregants at the warehouse.
I would like to thank Rabbi Leib and all of my teachers at OYRTBA for helping me get to this day. A special thank you to Rabbi Tornberg for helping me prepare my Dvar Torah, Cantor Zarkh for helping me learn to chant and Mr. Bruce for helping me learn my Hebrew and my Torah portion. I am thankful to my mom for driving me back and forth to lessons. Thanks to my brother Sam for listening to me complain all the time but also for making me more motivated. Thanks to my Dad for his continued support and always believing in me when he says, “If you stay consistent, you’ll get better.”
Sunday's Pirkei Avot will be the LAST of the season. We will resume in the fall with Chapter 6! _________________________________________________

10:00 AM Morning Service in the Molish Sanctuary and on Livestream BAR MITZVAH: MILLER POSNAN Son of President Josh and Emilie Posnan
BAR MITZVAH - MILLER POSNAN For my service project I chose to volunteer at the Pooch Kaboose Dog Rescue in Jenkintown. Pooch Kaboose is a no-kill animal mission that helps secure, protect and provide a forever home for dogs that have been abandoned, abused or are homeless. When I went there, I would take care of dogs and puppies. I would do this by playing with them and taking them for walks around the area. Many times, puppies would come here whose previous owners could not take care of them. It is important that I would go there so that I would be able to help these puppies' lives get better.
Rabbi Leib, Rabbi Tornberg, and Cantor Zarkh all were people who greatly helped with my preparation. They all helped to prepare me for this day. Other people I would like to thank are my mom and dad and my sister, Piper, for their support and for making my day so special.

BAT MITZVAH - DARA CHARTOCK For my mitzvah project, I worked with Hart 2 Heart Animal Rescue. This is an organization that helps cats and kittens find loving homes. I was able to help foster many of these animals and give them all the love they needed to make sure they were happy. I also held a collection to get food and other needed supplies. In addition, I held an in - person adoption event at my local pet store. If you would like to donate to Hart 2 Heart, please Venmo @h2hfundraising.
I would like to thank everyone for making this day so special. I would especially like to thank Rabbi Leib, Rabbi Tornberg, and Cantor Zarkh for helping me through this journey and making sure I was on the right track. I would not have been able to lead today's service without their help. I would also like to thank my previous Hebrew school teachers and the rest of the administrative staff here at Old York Road Temple-Beth Am for making this day possible. Lastly, I would like to thank my parents, Cari and Mitchell Chartock, for giving me their support and doing everything they could to make this day so special. I appreciate and love them so much.

BAR MITZVAH - MAX HARTMAN
For my mitzvah project, I organized a bake sale to support Ukraine. At the bake sale, I raised $250. I chose this cause due to the war happening in Ukraine and my thoughts were with the children who have been affected by the war and what they must be going through. I donated the money to an organization called “Razom.” They provide critical humanitarian relief and recovery for families. They also aid orphans and families of Ukrainian military who died or were hurt in action. I hope that my efforts help the people of Ukraine as they are desperate for help at this time.
