10:00 AM Saturday Morning Service in the Molish Sanctuary and on Livestream BAR MITZVAH:ASHER LITT Son of David and Kathleen Litt
BAR MITZVAH - ASHER LITT As a Bar Mitzvah project, I chose to volunteer for the JRA by packing boxes of food and hygiene supplies and helping with the delivery of these packages to the doorsteps of community members in need. I was able to meet some of these community members, many of whom are low-income and elderly. The JRA helps to provide food security for over 6,400 diverse low-income residents of the Greater Philadelphia area. This experience allowed me to learn firsthand the importance of the value of v'ahavta l'rayecha kamocha or compassion for others.
I would like to thank all who have helped me throughout the preparation for becoming Bar Mitzvah. I am truly grateful for the support of my Hebrew School teachers over the years. I also would like to thank Rabbi Tornberg, Rabbi Leib, Cantor Zarkh, Sherrie Turetsky, and all the administrative staff of Old York Road Temple-Beth Am. Most of all I would like to thank Bruce Sham and my dad, David Litt, who spent many hours with me for me to be able to read Torah today.

Here's how you can support Afghan refugees.....
Since August 2021, HIAS PA has welcomed more than 100 Afghans to Philadelphia. The Afghan newcomers lost their country and their homes overnight and found themselves having to adjust to life in the U.S. after merely 20-30 days at an American military base. HIAS continues to need the enthusiastic support of local congregations to help them. Here is a list of requested items that are in low supply at this time:
Toothbrushes Kleenex Toilet Paper (2-ply) Shaving Cream Deodorant Shampoo (NO Conditioner)
In addition, the items on the Target Registryare all greatly needed.
There will be a bin in back of the synagogue to collect your donations. Collection will run through March 15.
Thank you for your support! Questions? Email Mindy Silver, mcamsilver@comcast.net _________________________________________________

Her words were of little comfort, but Sam persevered, buoyed by his mother’s devout faith, his father’s practical wisdom, and his two other misfit friends.

It’s more than likely that at one time or another you’ve received a Yahrzeit notification from me reminding you of the anniversary of a loved one’s death. It has always been my privilege to do so.
It would appear that, of late, there have been an unusually large number of discrepancies regarding the actual, correct date of commemoration. If you brought this/these mistake(s) to our attention, we thank you.
After some investigating, it appears that the Yahrzeit dates computerized in ShulCloud were incorrectly and automatically defaulted to the Jewish calendar.
Given the fact that the overwhelming number of congregants recall all their loved ones on their secular dates of death, we have corrected the error and, going forward, ALL Yahrzeit dates in our system are now automatically defaulted to the secular calendar.
If you would prefer to commemorate your Yahrzeiten according to the Hewish calendar, we would earnestly request that you call (215 886 8000) or email (jlehner@oyrtbetham.org) Jackie Lehner ASAP so that she can make the appropriate change(s).
Please note that if you don’t contact Jackie to the contrary, all commemorative dates you observe will continue to be a reflection of the secular calendar. (Clearly there’s no need to call the office if that’s your preference!)
Thank you for your timely cooperation in this regard.

10:00 AM Saturday Morning Service in the Molish Sanctuary and onLIVESTREAM. BAT MITZVAH: LILY FRAZIER Daughter of Rachael and John Frazier
BAT MITZVAH - LILY FRAZIER For my Bat Mitzvah project, I wanted to give back to the community. After thoroughly researching multiple Mitzvah Projects, I chose the Jewish Relief Agency. My family members and I had the opportunity to pack and deliver boxes of food for people in need. This Mitzvah project was rewarding because I was able to make a lot of families happy.
I would like to start off and say thank you to everyone in the Beth Am office that helped me get ready for my special day. This year was quite unique so having to learn everything virtually was a challenge and I really appreciate Cantor Zarkh, Rabbi Tornberg, and Rabbi Leib for taking the extra steps to make this happen. I also want to thank my family for their outgoing support because I could not have done it without any of you. Thank you and much love.
